Have any secular recommendations for a high schooler wanting to learn Latin from the ground up?

I can't recommend anything. I will just say, Latin's Not So Tough which my oldest did in middle school wasn't good for us. The grading key was off for one thing. There wasn't much, if any context to figure out the meaning of words either.

My oldest did take Latin from a Catholic church with an adult group and loved it. We are not religious at all.

I did find this link. It seems to have at least three good choices on it.

I put out my query on FB and a local mom had a copy of Wheelock's that she'd never used, so she's letting me check it out for the weekend. If I like it, I'll buy it. If not, I can return it! So cool of her!
