Language Arts for 2nd AND 4th grade?

Asking for a friend :D

She just did the Explode The Code series.

She has a 2nd grader (who is reading at 3rd grade level), and a 4th grader. She is using this:

Writing with Ease - Writing Curriculum

First Language Lessons - Grammar

So she has grammar and writting. What other language arts does she have and recommend (Like english/phonics?)

People recommended Abeka or MFW but she doesnt have that type of money to dish out.

Thanks! :D

I use Ring Around The Phonics and Grade Level Requirements for language arts (K through 6th grade).  It is inexpensive, and because it has static cling letters, she can create her own lesson plans using it.  She can also teach both children at the same time even if they are on different subjects.

We love All About Spelling and it could easily be dome with two kids and is very reasonably priced. The lessons are well laid out and take about 30 minutes with both working together. It is faster.one on one.

In our case, my younger DD is advanced and my DS2 who is 3 years older has a mild processing disability so spelling wise they are at almost exactly the same level.

So she put spelling, grammar, and writing, would all the requirements be met- you think as a balanced language arts (with reading library books?)

I know a lot that like:

Winning with Writing http://www.growingwithgrammar.com/1wwwProduct_Page.html

and

Growing with Grammar http://growingwithgrammar.com/

I personally didn't mind the grammar, but the writing was less than I already had them writing at home, so we didn't re-order that this year, however I know many that say the writing is perfect.
