How many days a year do you have school?

My state requires 180 but my goal is 200. I'm curious how many days you plan to have lessons this year.

We're required to do 172 days, an average of 4 hours/day.  That's all I aim to keep track of, but I'm sure we'll do more.

my state says 180, that's my plan. I figure for first year doing this, don't plan to bite off more than I can chew.

From what I read we are required 172 days 4 hrs a day but I teach them new things every day and we have school time at random moments so in reality we will probably get more like 200-250.  My DH and I were shocked when we read that 172 is all that is required of schooling a year that seems terribly low.

I honestly do not have a clue. I don't do lesson planning, I don't keep a calender, and I'm not required to track hours. I don't follow the school calender too closely, but its very similar, I think. We only do a 4 day week, though. Hmm. now I'm curious to know how much school we actually do. Maybe I'll keep track this year, just for hoots.

I have 36 weeks/180 days scheduled, but we'll end up with 200 or more.

187 plus field trips. 180 is the state requirement.

My state doesn't require a set amount of hours, but we do 4 days/wk with electives on Friday's. Through the years I have learned to count things like going to the park as PE hours, laying on the trampoline and stargazing as science, history, and sometimes bible...depending on our conversations. While grocery shopping I will have them choose items based on quantity and price, coupon shopping, and meal planning. If you are talking to your child, you are teaching them something...it all adds up!

There are 365 days in a year, and 366 during leap years. Why is the scho year in general so short?!
