just got my emails saying that my ds (going into grade 3) got accepted into homeschooling came with this..

Language Arts – Oral

It is important that you incorporate into your program many opportunities for your child to speak,  discuss, listen, etc. (books, poetry, reader’s theatre, books on tape, etc.)

Language Arts –

Reading &

Viewing

Please discuss with your teacher whether the resource requires supplemental or support items.

For reading in Kindergarten and Grade 1 the program should have phonics instruction (either a workbook or a manual on how to teach for parents) AND beginner readers (can be purchased, on-line or loaned from library)

For reading in Grade 2/3 the program should now include mostly reading comprehension activities either in a workbook, beginner novels, or on-line. Some students continue a phonics program.

PHONICS WORKBOOKS:

 Explode the Code, Spectrum Phonics or MCP Phonics

Language Arts –

Writing &

Representing

For writing in Kindergarten and Grade one the program should have printing practice (either in workbook, chalkboard, whiteboard), resource to begin independent writing of sentences (journal writing or workbook) and many students start a spelling program in grade one.

For writing in Grade 2/3 the program should include teaching of writing skills (grammar, sentence writing, introduce a paragraph) and encourage independent writing (journal writing or workbook). Many students also continue with a spelling/ vocabulary program and

printing practice. Students often start cursive in grade 3.

I'm not sure what you are asking?  These are all just curriculum options for each subject.  I have a third grader.  What help do you need?

I would have to see it in chart form to figure it out.

It looks like you need to pick and choose what you want for your DS. Have you figured out his learning style? That would narrow down your choices.

ETA: From those lists, for math we like math u see or teaching textbooks depending on the child.

All About Spelling is wonderful! Even though he is older I would start at book 1 and work through it.

Yeah I am not sure why it didnt come up in chart form...

He is a quick learner, learns like his mom, by doing it, I think I have bitten off too much...but I really want to do this...I hope once I get over this hurdle of getting the stuff I hope I will calm down!

Thanks for the help!

For PE i have each of the kids do a sport. Two do gymnastics, one does karate.

We also do lots of walking the dog, playing at the parks, bike riding, to name a few. In bad weather we do wii fit, kinect zumba, etc. All of that counts.
