today i finally decided to home school my 9yo daughter. i had a horrible day dealing with my 11yo sons rude asst principal, then after than my ex husband tried to talk to my daughters teacher and counselor about getting tested dyslexia (to make a long story short, will explain later) the counselor basically said her issues were my fault and refused to test her for dyslexia.
finally my question is what homeschooling program do you use? what have your tried and not liked? why do you like your program? (we are in texas)
any and all help is appreciated!
thanks to all who have helped point me in the right direction and for your support. it has taken me a while to actually say i will do this and i can because i was afraid i wouldnt be able to teach dd academics correctly. but the school is just pointing the finger at me for not helping her with homework and only her dad and step dad do (i do help), when in i feel as if they are concentrating on the wrong issue to use as an excuse to put the blame on us as parents.
on the dyslexia, i didnt realize i would have push this hard to get dd tested. the school counselor said that testing her would be too extreme.. her words exactly! i know it the beginning its not uncommon for kids to mix up letters and words, but i feel that by 3rd grade they shouldnt be having as many issues as dd still seems to be having and now shes in 4th. i called the special ed department directly and asked for the eval. hopefully they will call this afternoon, but i was told tomorrow morning would be the latest to expect a phone call.
