I've home schooled my special needs daughter much better than the public school was capable for the past two years now. But after two years of following a set curriculum I am finding some things that don't quite mesh with our schedules and learning styles. I am thinking of just purchasing some of the books from the program and going through them on our time. But I am worried because one day I will be a nurse and she'll have to go back to public schools. I don't want to miss an important concept. Right now she's only in first grade.
How important is it to purchase a program vs. just using their workbooks on your schedule for elementary years?
Also, what age do they start working independently more? If I don't graduate until 2016, will she be more indepent with her work by then?
Are there any subjects that are better learned with more freedom to choose what you learn within them?
1360 The Eucharist is a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the Father, a blessing by which the Church expresses her gratitude to God for all his benefits, for all that he has accomplished through creation, redemption, and sanctification. Eucharist means first of all "thanksgiving." - CCC, SE, pg. 343
