I picked up the whole set for 3$. I couldn't believe it!

Quoting AutymsMommy:

Harry Potter (series)!

Okay, not all kids I guess, but I do think it's great and all my children will have it read to them (I started reading the series to my own daughter when she was about 4, lol).

Omg, that is one of my favorite books! I've read it I don't know how many times since I was about 12.

Quoting TidewaterClan:

A Tree Grows In Brooklyn by Betty Smith when they're around 15.

Really? 4? I love the Harry Potter series, I've been debating when it'd be a good idea to read it to them. I thought they were too young still.

I read it first when I was probably 13.  It's one of those books that always has something fresh, as I grow older and reread it.   The symbol of the tree being able to push up through the hard concrete just for the pure sake of living, has always given me hope when I needed it.

The first few books are good for youngsters.
