Soooo tired, and feeling under-appreciated

Posted by   + Show Post

Why does Christmas have to start so early? Especially when Cristmas Eve ends so late. I was up till about 1am wrapping the last bulky gifts (got creative wrapping an acoustic guitar..lol)... Then the kids woke us up at 5:45....yawn! I was bummed the kids didn't even make me a card or ornament (my favorite things to get in Christmas)....my DH is terrible at that. His response? "Yeah I ment to go get you a card and gift card from the grocery store yesterday but I forgot"...Maybe I'm just exhausted but it makes me sad that I spend months prepping for this holiday - even for hubby - and all I get is 'I forgot'. I mean I don't want expensive gifts - I'm super frugal - but even a colored picture is nice. Maybe I'll go back to bed and they can worry about cooking the Christmas dinner?

Aww, it's such a sweet gift - even a few years late...lol..I'm glad he found it!

my DH nearly always hands me the balled up grocery bag. I've never not gotten a card from the boys and one from hubby. That's an always thing. DH just doesn't understand that "I meant to get it" loses a lot of the good spirit of Christmas..lol...he even said he ran out of time yesterday, so I said I didn't need a store bought, I don't even really like those cards, just a colored picture is better than nothin! I even felt guilty for feeling sad - like I shouldn't expect anything from my guys on Christmas..but, damnit, yes I do - when I do 99.99% of everything - except my hubbies job, I do /coordinate everything else. I've never gotten my DH to give me anything for my birthday or our anniversary, so I do kinda expect a card for Christmas. ;(

This was the first time in several years that DH got me something...

After the kids were done opening gifts, he disappeared into our room and came out with a plain white plastic grocery sack, kinda balled up, and handed it to me...

"I bought this a whole ago and forgot about it..."

It was a LAPD tshirt and I love it! I gave up being an officer to stay home with the kids so I sorta live through my nice strong motor cop hubby. LOL

(Funniest part is..yes, I knew it was in the closet, found it A YEAR AGO when I was looking for something else! Oopsie! )

Aw, that is so nice that your family opened your home for a friend! What a great lesson to the kids on the spirit of Christmas!

Quoting usmom3: I hope the day has gotten better for you. We have an unexpected guest for Christmas, Hubbys friend called last night & said he was spending the holiday alone so Hubby invited him over. So our gift opening has been put on hold until he goes home later today. The kids still got their stockings & "Santa" present first thing this morning so they should be good until later.

So I told DH and the kids that the dinner was on them, that i was taking a nap. I even wrote exactly what to put on the turkey....I'm now looking at a blackened husk if what my DH swears was a turkey at one time....*sigh*

Quoting debramommyof4: Mine never wake up early. I keep waiting for that excited wake up, but it never comes.

This year my 7 year old has been making everyone rainbow loom jewelry. Daddy took it away for her not putting it away and she threw a fit because she would not be able to give me any thing. She is the only one who thought of it and I am sure it is mostly because it is new.

Hopefully they will cook for you or do something nice today! Merry Christmas!

Oh no! Do you have a back up? If not just enjoy the sides.

I'm sorry :(. I was a bit disappointed this year too. Here was my list: a new/better crockpot, nice measuring cups and spoons, a wooden spoon, a bread cookbook. I did get new measuring cups and spoons...that DH bought for me then promptly showed me on Sunday asking if they were ok....and I got a sweater I bought for myself, lotion I bought for myself, and a candle I picked out. Lol. I know I should be grateful, but he has been really good the past couple of years and always manages to surprise me, so I was a little disappointed that he didn't surprise me with anything at all, and I actually pulled off surprising him this year with quite a bit. My kids didn't really do anything, DD did give me a ceramic figurine she had painted (she had painted a bunch and when we cleaned her room DH mentioned that those make good gifts instead of just have 40 of them sitting around your room....so everyone got one this year lol).

I know how you're feeling, but you are definitely appreciated, I think it's just hard for guys to remember to show it. We all totally appreciate you here! You have given us all lots of advice and encouragement!

That can wear thin - the not ever getting a gift for any occassion. A token of appreciation and love is needed from time to time.

that does suck! tell them how you feel and hopefully they will care and do something special for you on your bday or christmas or just because they love you. but, you got to tell them how bothered you are.

I have to agree. My husband from time to time says here honey let's buy you a new book or go take a bath. He knows how hard it is to do everything I need to do and how stressful it can be so he may have me pick it but he shows that he understands.
