Homeschooling Moms Homeschooling Moms

If you do, where are your favorite places to go?  Some of ours are hiking/camp spots, Chicago Museum of Science and Industry and the Indy Children's Musuem.  This month we are going to a maple syrup festival about 3 hours away.

We are travelers, ds and I.  We go somewhere about once a month, and will/do travel more when we don't have a rigid schedule. We will be doing some roadschooling after I graduate, and I just wondered if there were any others here that suffer from cabin fever.

"Parent" is a verb.

My son is almost 3 & we go out a lot - mostly local but we are known to drive an hour to San Francisco for the day to explore or go to museums. I'm looking forward to traveling more with my 2 boys (now almost 3 & 6 months) when they are a little older.

I joke with my husband that one year we are all getting Disney passes and will go for a bunch of 2 day trips, which we will *somehow* incorporate into our curriculum - maybe when the kids are 5 & 7.

But seriously, we live in Cali & things like the Grand Canyon could be a 2 or 3 day road trip for us & I'm looking forward to doing things like that with them!

1 mom liked this

He's a contractor so his time is as long or as short as he wants it. He applied for a transfer to Georgia 6 months ago and he was approved a few weeks later but the process is so freaking long. Any day now, they keep telling us.

Quoting kirbymom: lol

Yeah, being in Afghanistan would definitely make honeymoon time few and far between. How long is his tour of duty? If I may ask?

Quoting katyq:

Wow! My son 3 1/2 was born when I was 26. If we had kept on, we would have wanted more than three, but my husband has been in Afghanistan for most of the last 6 years so we don't have much opportunity to try -_- lol

Quoting kirbymom: lol... That number is a typo. We only had 3 and a half. We now have a total of 7 kiddos .
We started when I was 24. Some people think that is late. :)

Quoting katyq:

How many kids do you guys have now? We started kinda late so we will have two more hopefully, and that will bring us to 3. :p

Quoting kirbymom: We used to travel in a Motorhome all over the place. Of course that was back when we only had 4 and a half kids. lol I was preggers at the time. :)

We love to travel and we do in the warmer weather.  I hate the snow and ice and just do not go anywhere in the winter if I can help it.  (Other than going to the science on Saturday Sugaring workshop in early March.  Even if it is snowy, we go there).

In the Spring we like to go to some state parks, collect some frog eggs and flowers to look at.  Look for signs that the hibernators are waking.  Make some tree rubbings, etc.  And we like to hit the zoo before the PS lets out!

In Summer we like to go hiking, biking, and rafting.  We go tenting!  When we can, we like to go camping at Shenandoah NP or get out east to Gettysburg, Valley Forge, Anteitam Or down to Manasas, Balls Bluff etc.

In the fall we usually hit the beach.  Right after all the PS kids get back to school.  We have so much more room to spread out!  Also we usually go to a couple U pick farms in late summer and fall.... blueberries, peaches, apples, and pumpkins usually.

Anytime is good for the museums up in Pittsburgh.  The Carnegies (especially the Science one, but we like the Natural History too.)
