I am new here and brand new (this week actually) to homeschooling. I have a DD that is in 7th grade. She has been ill since Thanksgiving and we have decided to homeschool. She has been diagnosed with chronic migraines (both headaches and abdominal migraines with cyclic vomiting) Yes, this has been about as joyous as it sounds. After doing more research, I think she may have chronic fatigue syndrome too. She went from having straight As, being in the band & chorus and active in school - having the best academic year EVER - to hardly being able to function due to severe migraines that literally last 4-5 days and then start up again after a few good days.
My Dh and I both work and my mother lives at home with us. Dh gets home about 1pm and I am adjusting my schedule to be home by 4:30p. We have found an online homeschool program (this is NOT a online public school) that we will probably use to get us started.
My question - are any other moms working and homeschooling? What programs have you liked for your kids? Have you started mid-year? The more I read about homescholing options, teh more exciting it is, but dang there is SO much that it is overwhelming. Has it been trial and error with you kids?
I am open to any and all advice. THANKS!
