What are your favorite educational board games or apps; games that your children love while learning something at the same time.

Here are some of our favorites:

Scrambled States of America

Sum Swamp

Pizza Fraction Fun (played only a couple of times but can see using this a lot in the future)

Exact Change (Have to help him with this one but he's catching on)

Looking forward to your answers. :)

We just opened up Colorku and I haven't had a chance to play around with Rock Me Archimedes and Back2Back.

I'm going to have to keep my eyes on this post!

We have a ridiculous amount of board games.  But they are mostly just regular old board games.  I actually assign Scrabble every now and then.  We have a game called Funglish that is a lot of fun but still kind of hard for my kids.  We also got Forbidden Island which is a fun strategy and teamwork kind of game.

I'm going to keep watching this post for more ideas.  My kids LOVE board games, I would love to have more educational ones.

I have a lot, especially for the computer/tablet, but the ones that I would say are most educational are:

Board/card games:

  • Dominion
  • Settlers of Catan
  • Through the Ages
  • Carcassonne
  • Once Upon a Time

Computer/Tablet games:

  • Everyday Genius: Square Logic
  • SpaceChem
  • Portal 1 & 2
  • Civilization V
  • Minecraft (I've made them build structures from History in it, or my son recently was covering rocks/minerals with his friend so I let both get on the game and do a hunt to see how many rocks/minerals they could each find and list them on their paper)

Scrabble (spelling), Monopoly (money), and they play a whole host of other games.  These are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head.
