We normally do year 'round and take breaks as we like.  But this year I decided to give ds(13) July off.  He aced his standardized test last month (99th percentile!!) so it's fine.  We should be starting up again the first week of August.

We've got several 1 week breaks and then we'll take 4 weeks at Christmas.  We'll also wrap up at the end of March, which I like because scouts gets chaotic towards the end of the year, and I get to plant my garden on break.

No, no!  Starting late August is normal, but we like to take off December to bake, wrap gifts, write cards, and all that jazz.  It was great last year, so we decided to do it again.  Plus my garden starts producing copius amounts of tomatoes in July.  The kids will be sitting around the kitchen while I chop and puree tomatoes, so I might as well give them something to do while they're there.
