So I was notified today that I was given one of the 15 preceptorship slots for our last semester of clinicals. I'm excited in some ways - its a great opportunity, more like "real" nursing as opposed to just clinical work, will look FANTASTIC on a resume! At the same time, I am stressed beyond belief! My DH just left for Iraq a few weeks ago (yet again..not the first time in nursing school), and the preceptorship is typically working 12hr shifts. My babysitter, and also one of my friends that I would trust with my children (2 separate people LOL) have both PCS'd (military related move) this summer. I am now scrambling trying to find someone to work as a sitter that will pick my children up from daycare and watch them. I'm not sure if I am more excited, honored, or stressed. The joys of nursing school!

Have you looked into care.com? maybe you could find an in-home day care that has the hours you need. Good Luck mama!

I found someone through sittercity.com that I've been trying out. HOPEFULLY, if all works out I will only have to use a secondary sitter for 2 days on top of my existing daycare. One of those days will be from 6p until 11p and then a 12 hr shift from 11a to 11p on a Saturday. Thankfully my mother was planning a visit, so she is going to come down and I am going to get 36hrs out of the way while she is here.

I am quite happy with the scenario though. I am doing my preceptorship in the ER and my preceptor is the head of that department. I'm pretty excited!!
