In a way I understand where you are coming from. My husband was deployed for almost the entire time that I was in nursing school. While I didn't have the financial stressors that you have, I did have to (for the most part) do this alone. Now that I'm done with nursing and looking back there were many times when my children were eating mac n cheese, corn dogs, etc. All too often the floors hadn't been vacuumed recently and many times I couldn't tell you when the last time the house was dusted. I would spend time between semesters catching up on laundy and trying to get caught up on cleaning. In the end, the kids made it through just fine. I made it through just fine. My house is still standing, and while it took a little while to get rid of the dust that had built up...it went away. In the end it will be worth it, and honestly think of the roll model that you will be for your children :) Trust me when I say that you and your children will be better for it all in the end. Keep your chin up and if you ever need to talk let me know. You ARE strong enough to do this and you (and your children) will make it through.
Congratulations on getting through it! I start my first semester in January and I'm super excited. I have two boys under two and a very supportive fiance but I know it is still going to be a struggle.
Hearing stories like yours keeps me confident that it is possible and going to be sooo worth it.
Stay strong
