I saw this in The Stir - What do you think, should he take the job?
So far, I've managed to stay mum on the whole Anthony Weiner scandal -- Weinergate, or whatever the kids are calling it. My CliffsNotes are this: He's an idiot. He's kind of a weirdo. He's a terrible, terrible husband. He did a good job in his professional position, and I don't necessarily feel that his extracurricular activities should preclude that. If everybody was fired on account of messed up s**t they did outside the office, there would be a lot of unemployed folk roaming around. Including maybe me and you.
So now that we're up to speed, let's talk about what could be next for Weiner. What should he become a member of now? (There really are no jokes left about this, are there?) If Larry Flynt has anything to do with it, Weiner will be working at Hustler. And, no, it's not some pie-in-the-sky, kind of bogus Pippa Middleton porn offer. It's a very real deal, and I think he should go for it.
The job Larry Flynt is offering Weiner now that he's resigned from his government position isn't a salacious one at all -- well, I guess working for Hustler in and of itself is always little salacious -- but the gig is actually in the Internet department of Flynt Management. The exact position is yet to be revealed.
The porn mogul penned an eloquent open letter, in my opinion at least, to Weiner in the Huffington Post. Flynt believes that Weiner's "intensity and perseverance as a Congressman," combined with his "service in the House of Representatives' Committee on Energy and Commerce," would make him a valuable asset to the Flynt corporation. To show Weiner how serious he is, Flynt's promised a 20 percent raise, as well as full coverage of all the moving costs that would come with relocating to Los Angeles.
Let's get real here, people, it doesn't really look like Weiner is going to have too many other options for a while, so why the hell not? Er, correction, Weiner actually does have one other job offer right now. It was made by Doug Ellin, creator of Entourage, and it's to do a guest spot -- as himself, of course -- on the hit (?) HBO show.
Now I'm not saying that I think what Flynt does -- naked chick-wise -- is aces. But I do think Weiner is a smart guy. And Flynt Management is a powerful company. And both the guy and the company seem to have a thing for porn. Seems like a good match to me.
Mr. Weiner, I think you should go for this job -- and go balls to the wall for it, no pun intended. If there's one place that disgraced politicians thrive, it's Hollywood.
Do you think Anthony Weiner should work for Larry Flynt?
