Jess buys 3-4 days a week.  We have the month's lunch menu and she goes through to decide what she wants.  My son buys every day.  When he was in elementary, he never bought because he thought the food was gross.

Pack everyday for ds1. He is super picky.

Not sure what ds2 will pick when the time comes. Probably mostly packing - but he probably won't be as rigid as ds1.

I'd say they pack their lunch maybe 3 times a month.

My son packs his lunch, he has severe allergies and I do not trust the school to meet his needs.  My girls buy their lunch because we get reduced. I can not make a lunch for less than 40 cents a day.

we do both.  He gets 1 lunchable meal-like the pizza or the sandwiches a week, and I make his lunch for the next few days, and every Friday is pizza day, so he eats hot lunch on Friday.  He prefers I make his lunch.  If he could, he'd ask for lunchables everyday, but I don't really like them and it's expensive for junk

 They go through the menu and pick what days they want to take hot lunch. My dd3 takes hot lunch more than dd2. DD1 in high school takes hot lunch everyday
