See what CafeMoms are saying about saving time this holiday season..
While we were at the beach over the weekend I heard a disturbing conversation in the bathroom. Normally I try not to listen to other people's conversations, I just want to do my business and be on my way. This though was hard not to over hear and harder yet not to respond to, although I did keep my mouth shut.
While I was in the stall I heard a mother and a young girl in the stall next to mine. I wasn't paying attention to what was going on until I hear, "What are you doing? Why the [bleeping out the swear word here, it is the worst one] you step on the towel?" I look over and all I can see are these little tiny feet with no shoes on. The mother continues with, "Did you take a stupid pill this morning? What's the matter with you?" Then I hear this sweet little voice answer, "No Mommy."
This poor child must have been about 2 years old, 3 at the most. I could not believe what I was hearing. Why would you talk to your child that way? I know that kids can make us mad, lord knows I have had my days where I scream and freak out but to talk to a small child like that because they stepped on the towel?
I fought back my instinct to interrupt and say something. Where would that get me? After all who am I to tell someone how to speak to their child. But even I know you don't speak to them like that...
Would you have said something?
