Share stories! I love hearing about weddings!
I just got married 3 months ago. It was simply going to the Notary's (that is who marries you in SC) home. The Notary made it so special. The words he used were very touching. And of course the fact that I was marrying a man I have loved for 30 years made it one of the best days of my life right beside the birth of my kids!!! I will always cherish the memory as my love said he would love and honor me through for richer or poorer, sickness and in health, for better or worse till death do we part. Love it!!!!
I just got married on July 8th. At home. Very casual...we wore what we could be seen in any day of the week. I wore a dress (he calls it a hippy dress), he wore shorts. Our witness' were his parents (mine have passed). A very dear friend officiated, and his wife took some pics. We had a handfasting ceremony and his Dad did the handfasting. All the flowers in the bouquets came from my yard and my woods. All 3 dogs were there, they stayed in a 'down-stay' the whole time. It was really a beautiful day. Then we all went out to eat on the ocean (I live 18 miles from)
Then we took the week for our honeymoon...whitewater rafting, moose safari, whale watch, etc.
This weekend we're having a large catered yard party with people coming in from all over the country....about 60 people.
The whole week it rained, our wedding it was sunny and beautiful.
I wore a white dress with black roses on the front and down the side, my bridesmaids wore black flowing dresses. The groomsmen wore black tuxs with blood red vests, dhs vest was black. The flowers were blood red.
Oh - I have to run up to my school for a bit - but I'll come back later and add - love these stories myself!
On my wedding day it was supposed to be hot and humid and no rain. Outdoor wedding, and so of course it rained. And rained and rained. So much so we have wedding pics of us standing in the puddles with water up to our knees. I couldn't believe it. But after the rain stopped we had our picnic reception and had wildflowers on the picnic tables and ate picnic food.It turned out to be a great day, but it was a pretty casual affair. I wore flip flops with my gown cause I was preganant and had swollen ankles and the guys wore khaki pants and white shirts, I wish it would have been a little fancier, but I got the right guy so I guess that is all that matters!
