Oh NO! He chopped his curls!

My 4  1/2 year has beautiful golden ringlets all over his head.  B/c he has tight curls, the longer it gets, the more it curls, so length is something that takes a long time.

He had his first ever slight trim at 4.

Last night, he took scissors to his hear and cut off a bunch of his curls!

I about lost my mind!

Right now he is in the bath and when he gets out I am going to try to even things out the best I can.

He always had this one curl that dripped down the middle of his forehead - he chopped that off too!

I could CRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just gave him a bath and tried to trim it up after so that it is not so obvious which parts are drastically shorter...  I won't really know how I did until it dries though.

I just about lost my mind when I saw it!  I just stood slack jawed gasping at all the hair on the floor.

Poor kid burst into tears when he saw my reaction!

How did he get scissors and chop his hair off without you not knowing?
Take him for a haircut first thing in the morning.

They were children safety scissors.  He snuck them into the bathroom with him.

They have always been in my older son's desk as one of his school supplies.

They were actually out on the counter though b/c i am a teacher and I brought him things that I laminated for my classroom to cut out.

I actually trimmed it up this morning....  Thankfully his curls mask a lot of it, but it is not what his hair used to fully look like...  He mostly cut from on top..  I trimmed the side and back - and then kind of "fluffed" his curls on top to give it some equal height...  :(

He said his front curl (which he had one longer curl that randomly dripped down the middle of his forehead) was bothering him.  We had told him that we were going to get a trim before school started as well.

Apparently afterwards he told my older son "Well, my curl was bothering me and it was almost time for school to start anyway".

There was great upset over it last night and we discussed it again this morning.  It is not something he will be doing again!

BUT I have to wait for his hair to grow out...  which will take a while...

My 3 year old has done that too. I was pretty upset and he had long cute hair. Hope it grows out curly.

luckly curly hair blends well. My dd cut her hair off at the scalp when she was 2, right in the front. It's funny now, I promise.
