From scratch. I love being able to change the recipe and add things (like choc chips or nuts) without destroying the recipe. Plus, I can bake about 5 dozen cookies for the price of that 1 dozen pre-made peel and bake cookies.

I can't lie - from some pre-packaged container...

You know what - maybe over thanksgiving I can make cookies from scratch with the kids - they have never seen me do that!

Thanks for the idea!

1 mom liked this

I found the best recipe on allrecipes.com for brownies. They are called "Brooke's best bombshell brownies".

  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 baking dish
  2. combine melted butter, sugar and vnailla in a large bowl. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each, until thoroughly blended
  3. Sift the flour, cocoa powder and salt in a bowl. Gradually stir flour mixture into the egg mixture until blended. Stir in the chocolate morsels. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven until a toothpick comes out clean, 35-40 min.
  5. Remove from oven and cool before cutting.

I would copy and paste the recipe, but I have to use firefox to get on CM from my computer and it wont let me.

I bake a double batch when I have free time and freeze about 2/3 of what is made so I have some to nibble on and some left over for entertaining. they only take about 10-15 min to thaw on a pretty plate at room temp.
