tablet advice

I am wanting to buy my children (3,5,12) a tablet for Christmas. Mostly for the 3 adn 5yr old. I just started looking into them. My 3 yr old is a gamer. I also was going to buy a portable dvd player but am now seeing perhaps I don't need to with a tablet. So far I have checked out the Nook. Any other suggestions? I want it for game apps, streaming netflix and possibly skyp? Any thoughts?

Both of my boys got the Tabeo tablets.  They are really awesome and preloaded with quite a few apps.

I've only ever had an iPad and I don't think I'd get my kids that young an iPad. I've heard about those tabeos but I don't know anything about them.

One of my friends has an ipad and my youngest goes to town with it. She can load and play her own games, turn teh games off and load up the movie that is on it, mess with the volume etc. She loves ot open the picture folder and look at my friends pictures. It woudl not be a freeforall thing though. It would be used under my supervision.

I was told the only way you could download apps was through amazon?

I think you have to have an account through amazon but you don't have to just download apps through there.

i just bought dd the nexus 7 for christmas.  i like it because it has an admin panel (for parental controls) and it's a very good, powerful tablet.
