This guy calls up the radio station.......

I was listening to this radio station yesterday morning called "Kimberly and Beck in the Morning." I live in New York State but from what my SO told me, this station is almost national.

Anywho......this guy calls up and explains how he ended up getting sick and gaining weight and his girlfriend, of 10 years, left him for another guy and moved to Pennsylvania. He said how he was going to drive to PA and shoot his girlfriend and then shoot himself.

he gets off the phone......

an hour later his step son (sounded like he was about 35) calls the station and explains to Kimberly and Beck how his step father has shot guns in his home and also confirmed that his step dad had to take certain medicine which caused him to gain alot of weight and his mom got sick of taking care of him so she left.

The son also pointed out that his step a SCHOOL BUS DRIVER!!

Callers were saying how he was only saying this because he was looking for attention and that chances are he didn't mean it.

Other callers were saying how he should be taken seriously and to not ignore what he's saying. That he's crying out for HELP, not to just get attention.

Now, at first, Kimberly and Beck were debating to call the cops. Kimberly thought, why call the cops? We might make it worse by doing that. WHAT IF HIS JOB IS THE ONLY THING KEEPING HIM SANE?

Beck said that there are KIDS involved, would YOU want your kids riding the bus knowing that the bus driver was crazy in the head and threatening to kill someone?

Finally, they announced that after the show they were going to not only call the cops but also call the step son and find out where his step dad works so they could report this to his boss.

What would YOU have done if you were in Kimberly and Beck's situation?

Do you think that Kimberly has a good point? What if that job was the only thing keeping him sane?

Would you have let it go and just think he is was crying for attention?

Call the cops!

Imagine if he was a little "coo-coo" and his anger was driving those little kids to school! God forbid!

Imagine if he actually carried it  all out! Wouldnt you feel bad that you didn't at least try to stop something before it truly happened!! At least the cops could have gone over to the house - anybody who says something like that on the radio or outloud is a threat!

I would have called the cops. I understand if your job is the only thing you have, but in any job you need to not be a loose cannon and watch what you say. Anyone can loose their job for doing anything, texting, being late, and all they may have is their job, but they didn't act responsibly. It's hard not to feel sorry for these people but it really is their fault. They can get help if they want but he's a grown man and can make his own decisions. It's not up to the rest of the world to babysit him if he can't control his mouth. We have free speech here, but not when you threaten someone. It's like yelling Fire in a theatre. You can go to jail for a joke or threat.

Honestly I have no idea. I do not like cops, or the justice system so I am very hesitant to call them for anything.

That's such a tricky situation, but maybe reporting it was the best thing to do since children were involved. But then again like you said what if his job was keeping him sane. these days having a job is great, since it's so hard for many to find one.

Withou question I would've called. You are not face to face with this person. You don't know how serious they are. Think about how bad you would feel if you were in their shoes and were told that today, then tomorrow heard the story on the news "man hunts down his estranged wife and kills her and her new lover" and you could've prevented that?!

Regardless of that, think about his mental stability. He's obviously not ok if he's calling even a local station and threatening to commit homicide.

I would have called. A person saying these things on a radio station in this day and age of continual gunshot tragedies in the workplace and gatherings, etc, is, to me, already over the edge of being considered in his right mind. If he was worried about his job, he wouldn't have made those statements, so why err on the side of saving it for him? You have to save him first before you can save his job--otherwise what's the point? I hope he gets help he needs.
