What does "bump" mean?

I'm new here. I have seen " bump" a few times . Does it mean to " bump" someone's post up so its at the top of the posts list?  That's the only thing I can come up with.  Thanks, from a newbie, as in 2 days ago.  ;) oh, btw, how do I quote someone's post to let them know I'm referring to them? Sorry, but a tad technologically slllloooowwwww.   ;)

Sorry so slow..but is it only the "bump post" button that does this, or any reply or like?

I'm new as well and keep seeing "dh" and "ds" I need updated on the lingo as well I feel old haha
