So my 5 year old daughter (Sophia) comes screaming out of the bathroom with her pants around her ankles. "Scorpion!! Scorpion!! Mama there's a BIG ONE!!!" Cracking up & thinking I haven't seen a scorpion in months, since it got cold I go to investigate. "Are you sure baby? I don't see a thing." "No mama, it was a HUGE one crawling on the vent above the potty." So I look up, nothing. I look on the floor nothing. Then I look IN the toilet. And yes, there drowning in the toilet is a scorpion close to 2 inches long!! She had been sitting there!! It would have fallen on her head if she hadn't seen it and ran. God only knows why she was looking up. Now we know they're coming back & it's time to start checking shoes & such. Good grief.

She's our scorpion spotter. That girl can see them when they're practically invisible. We tell her she's got "scorpion eyes" lol

ick. When I lived in Corpus I was in the shower and one fell from the ceiling onto my hand when I was turning the water off. I was like 6. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not miss the scorpions and tranchulas. Worst part about Texas.

Yeah, we've got some tough critters around here. But I love Texas. I don't ever want to live anywhere else. It's a beautiful part of the country, people are so nice, the weather is (mostly) perfect. I'm a 9th generation Texan, and my family were among the first settlers in this area. I've got deep roots here, and feel very comfortable and at ease around these folks.
