It depends. For wedding gifts and baby showers, yes. But for birthdays and Christmas we either say it in person or call.

Sometimes. For something major we will but for things like birthdays we thank them in person when we open the gift.

I did for wedding gifts and baby shower gifts. Other than that, I try to say thank you in person.

For some things I do, for others I prefer to call and personally thank people.  For something like a friend in one of my groups on CM where we do 'sisters' and secret pals, I will thank them on line within the group.

I always have. It's ingrained in my DNA or something. My Grandmommy taught me from a young age that it's polite to send thank you cards. My girls know the same, and my son will too.
