From comfy pajamas to mobiles there are a number of things you can do to help set the mood for baby's sleep. Today's challenge is to create a sleep friendly environment!

Here are some tips to help your baby sleep:

  • Keep the room at a comfortable temperature.
  • Dress your baby comfortably so he/she won't get too hot or too cold overnight.
  • Turn off the lights and close the blinds.
  • Keep the light off during nighttime feedings, and use a soft voice.
  • Use a firm and comfortable mattress for your baby.
  • Use a mobile so your baby has a familiar focal point.
  • Younger babies should have an empty crib, but older babies can have a comfort item such as a favorite blankie or stuffed animal.
  • If you have a separation sensitive baby, leave a bit of yourself behind like a recording of your voice or an item with your scent.
  • Stay calm when putting your baby to sleep. Young kids are very sensitive to a parent's feelings of frustration.

How do you set the mood for sleep? Does your baby sleep in your room or their own? Did your baby ever have their days and nights mixed up?

One mom who participates in all 5 days of the challenge will be entered to win a $25 Walmart gift card!

LO never had his days and nites mixed up.
And when it's bed time we extra stuff his dipe (we cloth diaper) get a kiss from dad then off to our bed. When he's finally sleep and done that routine I put him into his crib, lay him on his side AND before he turns more to a belly position I lay a crochet blanket on him (grandma made) n since it's long I bunch up on 1 side n he cuddles it (so it looks like an angled belly sleep). Put on his serenity star and frog humidifier and tip toe out the door

Baby sleeps in our room. He goes down in his crib and then comes in to bed with us when he first wakes. We're working on getting him to sleep in his crib more. I always turn out the lights, close the curtains, and turn on the white noise machine. He usually (though, not last night) goes down pretty easy and sleeps well until he wakes up the first time.

Shes a pretty good sleeper. We put a sleeper on and In the winter months we have a space heater on low since her room can get pretty chilly. She has her burpy cloth which is like her security blanket and a few stuffed animals, along with a mobile. Dark curtains to keep most the light out. Shes in a crib in her room the majority of the time, sometimes she sleeps with us when she wakes in the middle of the night and fights going back to bed. But falls right to sleep in our bed.

She's a great sleeper. She knows when its time for bed and she sleeps in our room.

At first DD had her night's and days mixed up and she slept in our room, then we gradually moved her to her own room.

We always make sure the room is a comfortable temperature if it's too cold we turn up the heat and also bought a space heater for his room and if it's too hot we turn on a fan and/or the air conditioner. He sleeps in nothing but a diaper with nothing in his crib. He's 9 months so we aren't out of the SIDS chances yet. Sometimes he ends up in our room in the middle of the night if he wakes up and won't go back down in his crib. His days and nights have never been mixed up.
