Step Mom at bridal shower

Hi, Everyone

Need some advice.  We are throwing a shower for my step-sons bride to be for the family.  Do you think I need to include his mother since it is just a family shower?

Wait, you're asking if the groom's mother should be at the bridal shower?

Of course she should. It's her son.

It's just a family shower, and she is his family....so yes.

You should invite her, it's okay if you hope she doesn't come.

Ok wait a minute. You said for the family. Do you mean the whole family or like your side of the family? If there is going to be a separate shower for the other part of the family then I say no don't invite her.

I think that is up to the people getting married. Ask him. Not only does this solve your problem, it could potentially divert complete disaster! Why be the one responsible for this decision? That's just asking for it IMO

My MIL invited her kids SM to her DILS shower and the woman used to be her best friend and her husband cheated on her with the SM...

Hasn't talked to her since, but it is what the DIL wanted (instead of having 2 showers)...

I think mom is going to be the DILs family as well and these are just one of those things that come up in blended families...

Leave it up to the bride.  If she's good with it, do it.  My SD's threw a baby shower for OSD.  I was drafted into helping.  BM was there.  As long as she agreed to be civil she was allowed to come.  I stayed across the room from her so she had no temptation, not there.
