Hi I am new to this group, but not step parenting. I have a 20 yo SD and 3 little people of my own. DH and I had custody of SD from age 5-19...He had custody from 19 mos on. She has now moved on to college (with no help from BM or BM family)

Hallo!!! I'm 37 years old and will be married to DH for 5 years in Dec2012. My daughter with DH is turning 3, and my SD is turning 12 this year. My SD also has a half-brother om her BM side (4).

Hi! I'm Heather - I just got married this past October, but have been with him for close to 6 years - 3 years around his kids. He has 3 kids - a son (8), daughter (12) & daughter (13) - I have one son (8). His kids live out of town, but we are lucky enough to still have them stay with us every other weekend and then 6 weeks in the summer. My son stays with us and sees his dad twice a week and stays with him every other weekend. The summer is always SO challenging for me as I work from home and have 3 children around 24 hours a day that do not respect me and often will gang up on my son. He doesn't have any siblings to play with when they are ditching him or being mean to him, so he will come hang out with me - which causes more issues with the others thinking he is telling on them. He is just looking for something to do. We are into week 2 of our 3rd summer of this and it's getting to me a little earlier this year. I try to talk to my husband about it, but since he sees his kids less than I do he refuses to punish them or even talk to them with any kind of authoritative tone. I'm looking forward to the support this group can offer to get through the 6 weeks in the summer without feeling like an outsider in my own home!
Hello! I'm Julia, 37 and recently married to the man I have been with for just over 5 years. We have 3 sons, my son, 11, from a previous marriage, his, 8, from a previous marriage and our 2.5 year old.
I am very interested in learning more about keeping sanity/respect in our relationship while handling the three boys. His son only stays with us during the summer so it makes it even more challenging. Very excited to meet and talk with everyone.
