Yeah he is now but at some point he wasnt so he owes for that

Quoting nmaxwell816:

Dad is paying child support although she is apparently still entitled to government assistance. Although she falsified the information by stating she has full custody.  I called the welfare office and clarified.  I also made a fraud report against her for it.

Quoting LyndaLoo78:

Ding ding ding!

Quoting JacyB:

No, it's common sense. The reasoning is this (to the best of my understanding, please correct me if I'm wrong):

Dad isnt paying child support

As a result, mom needs to get assistance

At which point the state is essentially "covering" for dad's fuck-up

Once dad finally gets his act together HE owes the state money for taking over HIS responsibilities.

Quoting nmaxwell816:

Yes they do and I think it is riduclous.

Quoting DixieL:

I didn't know that ex-husbands had to pay back welfare

And I bet your household gets nada

Quoting jessiesluv:

BM is NCP and gets assistance.

Apparently even if she has them 1 night a month, she is entitled to something.

this is not  always true. Hubby ex been on welefare for years.and he pays child support. When he lost his job, no cs was going in. But when we filed taxes she got a lump sum. The cs is for the kid. She gets her cs. In fact when he lost his job she had SD call over here to complain that mommy could not afford her expensive brass bed.

Quoting weirdkids:

Um, welfare makes you sign a paper stating that you cannot collect childsupport from the child's father while on welfare because they collect it from him. Its fraud.

Because when a mother goes on cash support when there is no child support, the state takes its money first...The state supported them, so they feel they should get paid back before anything goes to his arrears...

You have to have REALLY LOW to NO income in order to get cash assistance. That means CS wasn't being paid at some point. That's how it is here in GA anyway.

I know it's hard to believe that they came up with that rule
