Ok so here I am in CA w my Side of family(my mom and sister and grandma and my kids) feeling guilty bc I left sd w dh at home :(

My brother is having a baby due on Monday and decided to have a baby shower yesterday since we're all so far away from them hoping my sil would give birth while we're all here.. Well since dh had to work he couldn't come and I just carpooled w my mom and since our other 2kids use Car seats too w sd we wouldn't fit.. So sd stayed w dh and while he works his mom is babysitting so my thing is I feel guilty for leaving her.. I'm not trying to single her out but i would have to drive our truck by myself w 3kids(22mo old my 3yr old dd and my 4tr old dd)...Does anyone else feel guilty when this happens?

As I recall your SD is very young. She will have no memory of this. Leaving  her with DH was probably a good idea, as that is way too many small kids for you to handle alone. I don't think you should feel guilty. In fact, even if she had been your biodaughter, leaving  her at home would have been reasonable.

That's not a bad call. There's no way I could handle the kids by myself. Enjoy the family time.

I would bring my SD with me, but my SD is 11, so she would feel left out. The  younger ones won't have any recollection of it :)  I agree with someone else that it wouldn't be unreasonable to even leave a biokid when they are so young going on such a long trip :)

yes. But they are old enough to decide if they want to go or not, and if they do they know dh will pay for gas/food/whatever so more than 1 car can be taken to get everyone there.

i miss our van. Lol

but at that age i doubt she will remember and shes probably having a blast with grandma.

I never have skids when I go out of town, or any other time for that matter. I know how to wipe.

Heehee, sorry I had to. I don't have step children though so here's a bump.

This. It's not bad that you left her, with her being that young. If she were older, I would feel bad, but not that age.

we go on day trips without ss9. and as it stands we will be going to disney without him too. bm has refused to let ss go on MY familys trip unless her and her dd go also. so dh said we are still going and had his mother tell him why she wont let him go.

my family has  planned this trip for a while. my brother and sister and their kids. bm insited dh would need to pay for her and her dd in order for ss to go. because she doesnt want ss around those people(meaning my family) for 10 days.

I wish I didn't have guilt too.. I love my sd but theres times I wish I could do things w my kids only.. I feel like my kids should have mommy to themselves too!
