Bm was going to, but now has told us she cant until a week after school starts. Now what. I dont expect her to ever show up with them so how long do i wait before i go buy em?

We r custodial. She pays no support. Never has except 20 bucks in 2010 for 4 k. She doesnt buy clothes, shoes, coats.....nothing.

So jow long after school starts is it "ok" to not send any supplies?

I dont wanna over step and just butt in and do it. I also dont wanna be "that guy" that doesnt even send the kid with a back pack and a pencil. I will be tge one to drop him off everyday so it will reflect on me. Ugh.

I say go ahead and get the supplies, and hold on to the extra's if BM ever does get them. I know when I was in school I went through a ton of paper, spiral notebooks, folders, pencils, etc. Just put them up in a closet so if they needs more you have them.

These posts boggle my mind, bm not paying cs, doesn't buy anything for the kids, and somehow you're baffled that she can't get the school supplies, until a week after (which isn't an a1 felony btw)

This is a look at what bm did now post.

Buy them now; you know you're going to end up doing it anyway, so take advantage of the sales, ease your mind, and make sure the kids are well prepared. Give her a copy of the receipts and invite her to pay some/all of the bill if she'd like. You probably won't see a dime, but it doesn't sound like she really intended to help in the first place. But at least the kids won't be without, and you can stop waiting, wondering and worrying.

i buy the stuff in bulk. if i hit a good sale i buy a bunch ahead, and then i just need to get grade specific things  every year. i would never trust anyone to get  them for dd on time if she didnt do any of the other things all year.

I am not surprised at all. I wish she would just say that she wasnt going to do it. Instead she insists that she will. As a step i dont wanna jump in her shit and butt in and get them myself. As a step i also dont wanna send him off with out his stuff.

Yep his bm sucks, but im looking for advise on how dh and i should handle it.
