Current battles......with ss 6

Wiping his but. Why wont he just do it.

Quiet timeouts...its over so much faster if he just does it.

Chewing with his mouth open. . .he does this one on purpose. Dh cant stand it, so we remind him everyday. Every meal. Ugh
We tried ignoring it when we realised it was intentional. He will try to move into our ciew and chew really loud and smack his lips to the point of food falling out pf his mouth. Wwwhhhhyyyy!

Oh God...another one for my own heart. I can't stand the open mouth, lip smacking chewing. It makes me naseous to be honest. Can't stand it.

The key to quiet time outs is to ignore his screaming. Tell him right in the beginning that the timer will start when he can sit quietly and not before. That any "can I come out" will start the time over again. I did this with my 16yo son when he wsa younger. It was told to me by his therapist (he's ADHD) and worked like a charm. It is hrd at first but if you keep at it, you will find that it starts to work.

As for the butt wiping, maybe he needs another lesson? Don't do it for him anymore, explain that he will get a rash like a baby who wears diapers and then will need to put medicine on his butt HIMSELF. He's young so this may seem harsh but he has to do it. I dated someone when I was first divorced whose kid didn't wipe his butt. I refused, since my son that was 2 years younger could do it. Buy some wet wipes and make sure he doesn't flush them (even the flushable ones can become a problem.)

Good luck!

My SS delibetely smacked his food on the occasion we could get him to eat. He was smacking his food, DH asked him to stop and he started smacking harder and louder.

I have no advice on how to deal with a defiant kid. We battled this and never succeded.

If it's going unwiped he could get a serious infection.  I have a friend who cut himself shaving "down there" recently and didn't realize it.  He wiped his butt and apparently got poop in the cut - he's now gotten MRSA and had to have a huge section of skin removed directly between his scrotum and anus (where the cut was) simply from wiping his butt and accidently getting feces there.  This is a grown man w/very good hygiene.

Someone needs to teach this child how to wipe his ass, stay there until he does or take him to the doctor to figure out what his problem is.
