See what CafeMoms are saying about saving time this holiday season..
DD8 had her annual checkup today with her ortho team. Great news-she lost 8lbs this past summer :) her leg's healing nicely however she's going to need to get some tendons stretched in her bad leg. Dr's were really pleased to see how far she's come. She's also receiving a new clamshell brace :)
So, SD11 decided to come with us=just to see about this hospital she keeps hearing DD8 talk about. And I must say she had a great trip :)
DD8 showing off her mommy muscles :)
sd11 showing her "diva attitude" lol (she was touching dd's walker and DD was NOT happy about it.
dd8 and sd11 showing off their shades :)
sd11 looking out over the city of brotherly love
sd11 "driving" the bus in the playroom
waiting on the doctor to come in and examine dd's leg
DD8's really happy about getting a clean bill of health :)
****When DD8 was 2-she had fallen and broken her left tibia-it never healed. She was diagnosed at 2.5 with pseudoarthrosis of the tibia. It's a thing that causes your bone to splinter/fracture repeatedly until it finally breaks. And when it "mends" back together-it creates a false joint (hence the name pseduo-fake arthosis-joint)
This is NOT due to a poor diet/eating habits. There is no cure/medicine to fix this solution.Only time and patience. My daughter's had bone grafts/rodding inserted/nails,screws and a bolt inserted in her leg. And the bone 6yrs later is still broken.
There were 2 yrs where she was strapped to a wheelchair. if she wasn't in her wheel chair-she was in bed/ont he toilet/in a tub. because of how fragile her leg was. She's gained quite a bit weight due to how inactive she is due to medical limitations placed by the doctors. She's not allowed to participate in gym or any physical activity whatsoever in school.
I go against medical advice-and allow my daughter whatever she wants. If she wants to ride her bike-she rides her bike. If she wants to run around chasing the other kids-I allow her. She plays on the jungle gym and playground. And does yoga and kickboxing a few times a week with me.
Also my DD is now 5ft 2 and is 8.5 yrs old=she's down to 162 lbs and is still loosing. She's on the right track.
