YAY child support is done!!!! Is it wrong to do a little happy dance about it!!!
My husband no longer has to pay child support. And I couldn't be happier!!!!
WHY??
Because BM is always threatening to take us to court for more (saying WE, yes that includes me) should contribute more financially. Because we both work. My husband pays child support and some odds and ends. My step Daughter turned 18. And that means no more support payments. Which means her momma can't be a bitch about it anymore.
She called today IRRATE because she didn't get her check from last month. We called in to find out and discovered it stopped because SD is now 18. And no more support is paid. We will of course help out my step daughter if she needs it BUT now we don't have to deal with her crazy momma!!!! YAY WOOO HOOOOO!!!!
NO she is mad because now she only has one baby daddy paying support. For a while now we have been getting her school clothes, hair done, school supplies. She doesn't get her daughters ANYTHING with they money the fathers send.
She even cracks jokes about it. OH you like my hair. YOu should your husband paid for it ha ha ha. (and yes she really did say that) She says the money goes to HER to spend as she sees fit. And if they didn't like it oh well.
Quoting baparrot2:Wow. The girl is still in high school. The most expesive time in a teens life. No, I wouldn't expect BM to be very happy about having to fund 100% of that.
May I ask....how much was the weekly support amount he was paying for her?

$95 a week from my husband alone for 1 child. And we still have to get everything she needs on top of that or she doesn't get it.
She also gets $115 for her younger daughter.
We know because she told us. She bragged when all 4 of her kids by different fathers she was getting nearly 500 a week in child support. She didn't HAVE to work. Now she is down to her youngest and looks like she may have to get a job now. She is PISSED.

You do realize that you have anther post in here where you numerous times tell posters that you tell SD "no" to almost everything she asks for. Literally....no. Alot.
And 95 dollars is nothing to write home about with a teen girl.
Wanna do the morally right thing? Continue paying until she graduates.
And we really dont care what her other kid gets.
And no, she is not pissed becuase of what you "think".

We do say no alot.......WE so no to the 600 dollar prom dress with 3 days notice. we say no to 200 in pictures when we are taking her the next week for pictures. We say no to a brand new 400 dollar phone or canceling ONE contract so she can get a new phone on another phone. (which is 200 to cancel the line and another 149 for the phone). We did say no when she said that because she shops at expensive stores she needed MORE money for clothes. WE say no for 5 day notice for 400 dollars for a school trip. We do give her money for school clothes. we go BUY her school supplies.
and its 95 a WEEK. He pays 375 a month for ONE CHILD and they live in an EXTREMELY low income town. 3 Bedroom Houses there rent for under 500.
We also say yes alot. WE got her school supplies. WE get her hair done. WE paid for her cell phone for 2 years. WE bought her last dozen pairs of shoes. WE gave her money for school clothes on top of child support, getting her hair done for school, getting her shoes and getting school supplies.
And BM IS pissed SHE isn't getting the money anymore. BM told us this. Her exact phrase was "this is bullshit. I should get MY MONEY!" BM is mad. Her other child will be 18 come December. So no more child support for her. She just may have to go and work. Rather than sit at home collect FS, Welfare and Child support. (although I am guessing she will marry husband number 5 before she gets a job) She TELLS us she is mad she may have to go to work. Because her other kids moved out (no FS for them.) and my SD is moving out in June.
We will get my SD what she needs but we aren't going to give BM nearly 400 a month while she tells us I need money for clothes, shoes, prom, school, hair, makeup, personal hygiene. Will we still give SD what she needs. Of course. But BM can get suck it up. We won't give her another DIME.
The good thing is now SD is coming down here next weekend. She will be getting her hair done and get some clothes for her senior trip. And some a prepaid card for spending cash on it FOR the trip. (she tends to loose cash)

Mom should have saved money if the laws are that it ends at 18. I think that's on her.
Thats what we plan to do. She doesn't know it yet but that is what we will do. and if we don't see her (we can't send her the money because her mom will keep it) we will save it and give it to her when she moves into her own place or take and buy all the begining stuff she will need.
Quoting Pinot:
Sounds like you are good to her. I'd take that $375 you give to mom and use it towards her directly until graduation.
