Stop asking him to do anything.

If something needs to be done, go turn off the TV, look your DH in the eye, and tell him to do it.  Then if DH wants the stepkid to do it instead, DH can tell the stepkid.

It's like  we all live here but have crappy communication & DH or doesn't want to deal with it . He keeps blaming on SS loosing Mom 6yrs ago but he can't keep babying SS forever. I have known this SS all his life , he use to be so sweet & respectful . I need to give DH a reality check , any ideas ????

Maybe if your husband showed you respect in front of SS, then maybe SS would show some as well. It's gotta start with your husband first!

Has SS gone to therapy for losing his mother?

He's also 14, if he lost mom and now Dad is being lazy in the parenting department, 14 is going to be a not fun age.
