SD's disorder causes a lot of eye issues. SD's vision in her glasses was 20/40 in her right eye and 20/60 in her left eye. The pressure in her right eye was 18, and her left eye was 19 (anything over 21 and she'd be put on medications to reduce the pressure). SD is at a VERY high risk for glaucoma, cataracts, and a corneal transplant rejection (she had bi-laternal corneal transplants at 2 and 4 weeks old). So, those numbers are all from her last appointment.
Today SD saw her eye specialists again. She's been wearing contacts for about 8 months now, and has been patching her right eye (her stronger eye) for 2 hours each day in the hopes that it would be strengthen her left eye. She's also been playing hidden picture games and video games with the eye patch on (the doctor suggested it, DS was jealous, LOL).
Here's the awesome news! Her pressure was down to 12 in her righ eye and 13 in her left eye! AND! Her vision in her right eye is 20/25, her vision in her left eye is 20/30, and together they're about 20/25!! her eye specialist wants us to continue patching her right eye for 2 hours a day for 3 more months in the hopes that we can get that eye to 20/25 as well.
I am SERIOUS loving all this amazing progress she's making :) I'm so proud of her and how hard she's been working at everything.
