Trying a new clinic

I have a 13 year old son who is greatly overweight. He weighs in at just over 300 pounds. His health over the years has been seriously affected by his weight. He currently uses a bi pap machine at night to help him to breathe during sleep he has asthma and high blood pressure and a minor heart condition. Too many heath concerns for anyone much less a teenage boy!!
At a recent visit to a specialist she recommended a new clinic at University of Michigan hospitals to help him. I received a call yesterday from this clinic it is a six months program (renewable again if necessary). It sounds really good we go for our first assessment appointment in August
Has anyone here ever heard of this program??? Or better yet tried it?? I like the idea that it is a family approach program helping everyone to understand individuals nutritional needs.

I have never heard of that so I can't be any help there. Sorry. How is your son doing these days? I hope all is well for you and your family.

I would like to share a little bit about my situation and maybe it will be useful with your son as well, I joined this group as a concerned sister. My little brother is almost 13 years old and he is overweight as well.. He is the greatest little boy I have ever met, and the exact reason why i decided to become interested in children's fitness/health.. I am now working with a fitness camp in upstate new york. We work with children from ages 7-18 who are overweight and want to LEARN the CORRECT way to become healthier and lose weight. Over the course of our summer camp program, children will experience growth and improvement of both body and mind,  team work skills, and most importantly self confidence. I have seen the changes in hundreds of children over the years and I want to offer your child the same thing.. Please feel free to contact me on this website or even look at our camp's web-page for yourself.. We are at a new location this year in upstate new york and I am so excited! My little brother is going for the first time this year and he cant wait to see a change!! camp owner Keith Zucker is amazing! I met him through personal training and he has remained a close family friend ever since. He has many credentials and is a true inspiration, having dealt with his own obesity growing up. I am here to help because I know how hard it is to decide what is right for your child. please check out the web site www.campempirelake.com also I am including some emails of parents you can talk to who have had children go through the camp and see the results.. please feel free to email them and ask as many questions as possible.. My email address is naeners06@aol.com
