How do you save money on road trips?

Does it vary on how long you are gone/travelling?

Do you avoid toll roads? Have an EZpass? Save your quarters?

We don't take road trips very often.  With gas prices up we probably won't be going very far this summer.

Take our own snacks, drinks, and even sandwiches for lunches, or things to make sandwiches. I love family roadtrips.

Dh has already made all our reservations at the same chain so we can get hotel points for a future trip.

We just did a quick trip up to my Grandma's. Only had to fill up for gas once the whole trip and we shopped around for a good price. We also packed snacks for the kids and drinks for us. The worst part was the tolls.
