I saw these great tips in this article and thought they might help others save money when shopping for the kids for school this year:

  1. Shop During Back to School Sales Tax Holidays
  2. Throw a Back-to-School Swap Party
  3. Hit the Bargain Stores
  4. Shop All Year
  5. Take Advantage of Layaway
  6. Cash in on Your Kids' Clothes
  7. Buy at Outlet Malls
  8. Stockpile Seasons Ahead
  9. Find Deals Online
  10. Use Cash Back Incentives

How do you keep the cost down when buying for your kids for school?

Great tips Steph! I try to get things while they are on sale or at the end of the season for next year.

I like the idea of a swap party since all my daughter's friends are the same size as she is basically!

I shop year round, hit the outlets and use my charge card to get rewards.

good tips and I keep the cost down by shopping sales and through the year. I also shopped thrift stores for ds uniform shorts and pants since his shirts have to be bought at the school .

We will be "shopping" around the house first. We have a ton of supplies left over from when I was in college. Paper, pencils and things like that do not go bad, so no reason to buy more when we have a nice stock here.
