Use every part

One good way to save money I just read about is to use every part of the food you are making. An example would be if you are making mashed potatos to save the skins for baking. Are you good about this? What other type of examples do you have?

Honestly, no. I don't save the skins, I don't make stock when cooking chicken, don't save the ham bone. It's just gross to me to mess with meat (I was a vegetarian before having kids).

I always think of starting a compost heap when I have potato peelings, carrot, and celery shavings.

I usually leave potato skins on. I give bird carcasses to my hubby's aunt. She makes stock out of them. I give the ham bones to my Grandpap. He makes a stew with them.

Most veggie and fruit scraps along with coffee grounds go to the compost pile.
