5 Treats For A Book Lover

Who's kickin' back after our "around the world without leaving your home" whirlwind that we had last week? Are you kickin' back with a great book? Are you one of those book lovers, the gals that always have a book in their purse (and another five on the bedside table)? I am a bookie and my mother is the queen of booklovers. Even when watching our budgets, we need our novels, mysteries, romances, chick-lits -- and everything else book-y. Here are a few ways to treat the book lover or yourself to a little indulgence.

-- Cook from the pages. Bring your book love into the kitchen. Check out The Book Lovers Cookbook: Recipes Inspired by Celebrated Works of Literature and the Passages that Feature Them by Shaunda Kennedy Wenger and Janet Kay Jensen. Make the soups, cakes, and others meals from your favorite novels.

-- Tote in style. Snatch up a cute tote to carry around your latest library additions (or groceries or sports equipment). I love these two from Signals: one with a cat on a stack of books and the slogan Life Is Sweet and another with the quote "She is too fond of books and it addled her brain."

-- Mark it with beauty. Buy a lovely bookmark for yourself. Make yourself smile every time you return to where you are and when you have to leave off again. This matte silver one has a wonderful quote -- It is never too late to be what you might have been by George Eliot -- and is less than $9.

-- I Heart Harry. For the Potter lover in your home, perhaps the one that has just been turned onto the love of books with J.K. Rowling's series, there is this charm bracelet with mini versions of all seven in the series.

-- Her book love is noted. Everyone knows you love books. Show it even when you aren't reading. These cute notes cards from Etsy with a little stack of books can be personalized too.

Do you love to read? What is your favorite book?

I like to read, but I never have the time. I do read a lot of children's books - does that count?

I love to read and I love books!  That cookbook sounds interesting and I'm going to see if my library system has it.  Most of my reading is how-to stuff or research, but I did start a series of fiction that I'm enjoying.  I'm on the 2nd one now.

I LOVE to read!  My favorite book is "Gone With The Wind" by Margaret Mitchell.  It's an awesome piece of work, and I have a first edition that I inherited from a great-aunt. I don't limit myself to that book, though:  I have many favorite authors and genres and I collect books, much to my family's chagrin.  You'll always find a book (or stack of books) on my night stand!

I love to read! But it takes me much longer to read now that I have kids and work and school. Before life happened I used to be able to read one or two books a day depending on the length of the book. I'm not sure I have an absolute favorite though.

I have gotten into the James Patterson books and have started to read them a little, but not much for reading.
