Refinancing Offers

I receive a lot of these offers in the mail from companies that offer to refinance our home and significantly reduce our payment and drop the interest rate on our house by a point. I get them  a lot, and wondered if  anyone knows if these type of things are legitimate.

I've never used them so I really don't know for sure.  It wouldn't hurt to check with the Better Business Bureau.

They are legit to a degree.  They often have hidden charges that cost you a bit more than if you were to refi at a financial institution.

If you're wanting to refi, I'd find the offer with the lowest interest and least amount of fees, take it to your bank and see if they'll match it.  If not, find out why.  That might tell you how legit the offer is.

I never refinanced a house but we did refinance our truck. I had the payment down almost $200.00 less per month. Dh looked at it and changed it. He got $3000 cash back, extended warranty, added 2 more years onto the loan and only lowered the truck payment $20.00 he didn't tell me he did this until after I signed the paperwork. I trusted him until he did that now I read everything before I sign it and take care of paying all the bills by myself. I do tell him what we have and what I am paying. He knows he screwed up.
