So when ds had a book fair at school last month I let him go in and pick out whatever books he wanted. One of them was "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" and he loved the book. He has been asking me to get him so more so as a gift for doing so good in school this year I bought him a little box set. He was so excited and is in his room reading one right now. I think I'll order him the last 2 books he's missing next week. What books are your kids reading right now? Do you reward them at the end of the year for good grades and making improvements?
My dd is reading 'where the red fern grows' as part as her reading assignment for English for next year. We bought her a kindle for her birthday. She is so excited!
I can't do money for grades, I'd be broke. Plus I felt like books were an appropriate gift. I want a kindle so bad, they're great.
Did she get summer homework or is she reading ahead?
Quoting momof2ex1:
We used to reward with money but my dd started breaking the bank with those good grades so now she gets ice cream at the end of the six weeks and we do a 'dinner' at the end of the year. She is 11. And her bday is right at the end of the school year so she is getting presents for that.

I do reward them! My 15 yr old will be allowed to take driver's training in another 9 days (3 week course, I have to drive him to class every day), my 13 yr old got a telescope (partly end-of-school, partly birthday gift), and my DD got the Hunger Games trilogy along with a pretty complete Janette Oke book collection.
About planes, tanks, trucks. Dd 5 likes Dr. Seuss and books about animals.
