How do you plan a budget for summer activities?

Well it depends on what we pln on doing, if we plan on a big trip we save through the year and cut even more corners than normal, but  if its just day trips we set aside a little each month

Summer is when I can usually shave more off my grocery allowance, so I'll take the extra and use it for a day-cation when we feel the need.

I just add a line item and make it work. That said, we do a lot more free stuff in Summer - movies in the park, hiking, going to parks, etc.

I dont really do anything differently. We can certainly do a lot more outdoor stuff though.

I have enrolled my children (5 ages 6-16yrs old) in a few free activities offered in our area. I also plan to take full advantage of the free zoo/museum days. I will be working part time this summer, but that will just keep the rent/utilities on.  No complaints, just happy to be employed. :)

If it's a huge vacation then we save all year long for it. If it's just something we want to do for a weekend get away or something we try & plan it a month ahead of time.
