Yep, I've already decided I will NOT be moving to New Mexico.

Quoting Kelly913:

That won't happen here for MONTHS!  At least not for a full week.  There might be a night or two here and there where we have a huge rainstorm and it'd be cool enough to do that, but hot is hot for a long time here.

I unplugged the AC units and hope to be able to leave them off this week.

To me, having a plan to save money sounds like I'll need a plan for spending money in order to have a way to spend less.  I already do whatever I can to keep costs down, there's usually not much more that can be done.

What part of NM?  Because there are parts that I'd love to be living in at this moment-it's in the 70's there right now.

You do recall that I don't live in NM, right?

One more thought-I'd still venture a guess that my annual cost to keep my house comfortable is less than yours.

Probably.  I spend around $500 a year for heating and cooling costs.

What if you weren't able to cut your own firewood?  And didn't you just have an electric bill a couple of months ago that was over $400?  Oh yeah, you said you hadn't been using the AC that month.  My average for electricity is $95/month and we're an all electric home.
