Back to School Countdown Day 1: Size Up Supplies

Posted by   + Show Post

Before you go out and buy new pens, pencils, notebooks and binder, go through last year's supplies. See what you can reuse and what you'll need to buy new. This will prevent you from buying items that you might have around the house already.

What are you able to repurpose? What's on your list to buy new?

I have a box of unused or reusable school supplies. I need to double check but I'm sure we have glue and crayons in there.

Backpacks in good shape, one binder in good shape (however; my daughters go through 2-3 binders per year) this year I bought a better quality at Office Depot, I will see if it was worth the extra cash.

I bought less in pens, pencils, and lined paper. I did buy lead for the mechanical pencils which will save me some money. However; my girls say that they are always asked if they have extra lead to share.

My one daughter is using a pen-pencil holder that goes in the binder that has a see-through front pocket and a back pocket that she hides some of her things so others can't see that she has extra....I now have to find another one for my other daughter because she says others always asks her for lead, pens and erasers...

I need it all. The kids didn't bring anything home from last year that could be reused for this year. Not even my DS who will be repeating 1st grade again this year.
