Well, IMHO that is taking advantage of family. My opinion is I didnt have kid so we could go out all night and have free sitters. Its not their problem. If I did have involved family I would still feel beyond guilty asking. I just couldnt bring myself to do it. So when we get to go out I hurry through a dinner just to get back. I try to be no longer then 1 hr total. I have never left them with a sitter. That dinner I am talking about my dad took the kids to the Circus. I hurried so we would be at home in time for them to get back.

how do you spend your time the rare occassions your able to get away? i think i have grown used to having family close to us that ask to take our ds (and looking forward to taking our dd) for overnight visits.
