I made my DS some new crayons from old ones.
This is what I did...
Preheat Oven to 275F
break up pieces of crayons
sprayed muffin tin with vegetable oil
placed in over for 7 - 8 minutes (or untill all pieces are melted)
let the tin cool then put in freezer
He only had enough pieces to use 2 holes in my muffin tin but they came out great (I'm a proud crafty mamma) I'm heading to the dollar store today and going to see if I can find some silicon trays. We are going to start saving pieces of crayon again and hopefully next time I can make ones that are all one colour!!

This is such a good idea. My DS likes to break a lot of his crayons and so on. So this would be awesome.Turned out great! the vegetable oil made them easy to remove I just had to tap the bottom and they popped right out.
earlier this summer the kids were outside with their crayons coloring, they came inside for lunch and when we went back outside about an hour and a half later all the crayons were melted in the container we were keeping them in O.o it was about 85 out that day - apparently hot enough to melt crayons! Needless to say we don't keep crayons in the car anymore and if coloring is taking place outside we make sure to bring the crayons inside right away when we are done - I never thought about pouring the wax into something to make a 'new' crayon lol :)
