Any of your boys do cub scouts - specifically tigers? I'm signing my 1st grader up tomorrow but I'm clueless as to how expensive it is. Any ideas? Any tips, tricks, or traps?

I am mostly looking for an average annual expense. I'm sure it can vary, but I'm afraid I'm going to hear like $200 a year or something. I'll have 3 boys in at one point, so the cost will be a factor.

I would like to sign Ds up. I don't know where one is in our area.

I paid $17 for the year. They do various fundraisers throughout the year to raise money (car wash, sell popcorn, bake sale, sell pies) my ds didn't do all these, these are just what I've seen done.

Also, I live in a low income area so they use the money from the fundraisers to pay for next years annual fee.
My pack didn't go camping but many do. That can be very expensive.

Thanks. In our family, an Eagle Scout is expected of my boys. It's just something I will personally require of them, so starting them out early is a big key to getting them to that point. Right now my oldest (almost 7) is excited. He is dying to join. I talked to him and explained that this is a 10 year commitment (unless he finishes his eagle early). Our church has scouts every Wednesday night, but this first year is only through the school (or community). Our church starts scouts at 8 years old. We know that with 3 boys we will most certainly be very involved with it. $12 a year isn't bad at all. I know I have to buy uniforms - wonder how much that is? Hmmm...

It doesnt give specifics because each pack is different. Some have outings, go camping a lot, have activities, and I think some are more strict on uniforms than others. I just figured there'd be other moms whose sons do it and know what it costs them (on average). I was just nervous that my jaw would hit the floor when they gave me a cost. lol
Quoting MDWife12:Have you checked out their website? It might give you some good info :)
