My bed has a very firm mattress and it's wreaking havoc on my major joints and spine, so I'm thinking of trying a pad instead of buying a new mattress.  I just can't decide which pad to get, and I really have no experience with any of them.  Which one should I choose?

I have never used any of those mattress pads before so I didn't vote - I have heard good things about memory foam. I have this pad that is on my bed but I have NO idea what it is O.o

Memory foam will last much longer and be more comfortable

Memory foam is soooo comfortable.  It is a bit hot though...  You are in Michigan so ask people that live near you... it is affected by temperature so it may be more dense there.    Feather bed is only nice when you first put it on... it crushes down pretty quickly and (like a feather pillow) needs to be re-fluffed... which is a pain bc it is under your sheets and big/awkward to fluff

I'm not sure which one is best. We used to have a feather pad, but we gave it away when we got our new bed.

I had a down/feather one and it sucked.  It poked me with feathers, it didn't make it as soft as I hoped it would.  I haven't used one in like 9 years, but still....it wasn't pleasant.  I vote for memory foam.
